Ten weeks of French for people who have bought a house in France — or are thinking about it — and would like to be able to talk to their neighbours.
Saint-Julien, a small village. On rue des Tilleuls, six houses have just been sold. You live at number 4. Your neighbours are new, like you.
Over ten sessions you'll live a first year in the village: the welcome at the town hall, the Saturday market, Lucien's café, Marcel and his tomatoes, a plumber to call, a doctor to see… and, on the last day, a long table in the middle of the street for the neighbours' party.
Every scene is one you'll actually meet. The French comes with it — not from a list.
By the end of the 10 weeks
- Introduce yourself and say a few words about your house and where you're from
- Shop at the market, order at the café, ask a price
- Have a first real conversation with a neighbour — the weather, the garden, how long you've been here
- Make an appointment by phone and explain a small problem to a plumber
- Tell a doctor where it hurts, and take your first steps into the past and the future
- At the town hall — introducing yourself, spelling your name
- Your house — the rooms, saying what there is
- The hardware shop — objects, colours, asking for something
- The Saturday market — shopping, quantities, prices
- Lucien's café — ordering, likes and dislikes
- Marcel and the garden — the weather, a first conversation
- The plumber on the phone — telling the time, making an appointment
- The plumber at the door — describing a problem, asking "how much, when?"
- At the doctor's — saying where it hurts, a first look at the past tense
- The neighbours' party — plans, thank-yous, the near future
How it works
2 hours a week online, eight of us at most. We live the scene together, and you speak — a lot.
Access to my online platform: each chapter with its story, vocabulary, grammar explained in English and self-marking exercises.
Unlimited access throughout the course to train your ear and your pronunciation.
